Is there a charge to do the Cayuga Lake Blueway Trail?
No, there is no charge to do the Cayuga Lake Blueway Trail. However, some of the launch sites do have a fee. The New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation sites, which include Taughannock Falls State Park, Dean’s Cove State Boat Launch, Cayuga Lake State Park and Long Point State Park, charge a vehicle-entry fee during the summer season.

Can I land my watercraft anywhere on the shoreline of the lake?
No, much of the shoreline around Cayuga Lake is privately owned. So before you head out, know your route and know where the public landing sites are located.

Are there safety patrols on the lake?
Yes, during the summer boating season the area Sheriff’s departments and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation have patrol boats out on Cayuga Lake. The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary also has boats that will respond to boaters in need of assistance.
If you have an emergency while you are boating, always CALL 911 and let them know you are out on the water in Cayuga Lake. The 911 staff will ask you the information they need to direct assistance to you.
