Cayuga Lake Destinations The Cayuga Lake area is rich with culture, history and interesting spots to spend a few hours, a weekend or a week. From antique stores to natural wonders, from tickling your toes in the cool Cayuga waters to dining at one of our lovely renowned local restaurants, there is plenty of experiences offered along the Byway. The destinations mentioned here are a few not to be missed on your travels in and around the Finger Lakes region. MacKenzie-ChildsFounded in 1983, Mackenzie-Childs is reknown for their fanciful, hand-made ceramics, enamelware, glassware, furniture and home accessories, as well as their beautiful 75-acre former dairy farm overlooking Cayuga Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. The grounds--open to the public—consist of their production studio, farmhouse, both open for tours, a retail store featuring MacKenzie-Childs tableware, home furnishings and gifts from around the world. The picturesque farm is also home to a herd of 25 Scottish Highland cattle, more than 90 birds roosting in the Gothic Revival-style Chicken Palace, a duck pond, a former Cornell horse barn, a 1930’s greenhouse, spectacular and ever-changing gardens, and plenty of hay fields.
